SABIS Educational Systems, Inc. was established in 1985 in Minnesota, with a range of schools starting in the private sector and expanding into the public sector. Ryan Construction completed renovations to a vacant 40,000sf building in Foxboro, to establish the first SABIS Charter School in Massachusetts.
SABIS acquired a twenty-acre site in Springfield for a private sector charter school campus. Shortly thereafter, SABIS turned to Minneapolis architect, Harriss Architects, and Ryan Construction to fast track the construction of their first building on the Springfield campus. Working closely with SABIS and Harris Architects, Ryan Construction cleared a portion of the site, installing utilities, roads and constructed the first phase consisting of classrooms, and cafeteria in just 5 months. The building was completed in time for the students to occupy the building in September. Ryan Construction continued building on the Springfield campus which now includes over 180,000sf, along with additional classrooms, dry and wet laboratories, an auditorium, a resource center, a gymnasium and more.
